About Original exposure: 1/400 sec, F 6.3
Moon Hill is a famous arch-topped hill not far from Yangshuo. The photo has obviously been heavily enhanced with saturation and contrast alterations. I wanted to give form to the emotions I felt simply being in a place that I never dreamed I'd really get to. What do you think?

I think selectivly applying saturation would make this image stronger. The amount of saturation applied across the image has introduced artifacts in the sky and mountains... in essence adding noise. The landscape itself is incredible. It looks other worldly. I can see why you feel so strongly about this particular image. It is very beautiful.

Bella... sembra una location di un film fantasy!

You're absolutely right, Jim. I rushed the picture to print, so to speak. I'm going to have to work on it. I'm glad you appreciate the underlying beauty of it.

Grazie, Simone. You're right about the film fantasy feel. In a way, it felt like being in a fantasy world when I was there.
Best,
Steve

Whatever enhancing you did to this must have worked because this image sure grabbed me. The arch looks like a portal to a mythical land, a place of wonder, beauty and mystery. I like that the lower left side of the arch has some sunlight hitting it - this gives the arch a sense of depth that a pure silhouette would not produce. I also like the pastel colours in the sky and distant hills - makes the image almost look like a watercolour painting. Nicely done.

Thanks so much for your generous comments, Dennis. I'm glad you like it.
Best,
Steve
