About A picture of some of the landscape around the Devil's Tower National Monument (which you see partly revealed in the background). I used a polarizing filter to keep the red rock from getting washed out and to enhance the contrast between the clouds and blue sky.

Amazing colors Dennis. The red on the rock and the blue sky really make this picture stand out

I've always wanted to visit Devil's Tower and not for the same reasons as the characters in Close Encounters of the Third Kind :)

This is a very nice shot. I like seeing the terrain around the tower. The use of the polarizer was extremely efficient. This came out extremely well.

Amazing colors and sharpness. Great place!

A superb photograph. Each element is just right. I would like to see a version where the monolith is more prominent, and to compare, a shot with a prime (non-zoom) lens. I guess I'm just getting picky in my older age.

Thanks George (and everyone else) for your comments. If memory serves me correctly I had the lens set as wide as it would go (35mm). This was taken from the road leading up to the Tower - it might be possible to get more of the Tower (while keeping the red rock in view) by going off road - or by standing on top of the vehicle... I'll never know unless I go back there for another visit some day.

A wonderful shot of this spectacular scene. The sky is super with great cloud interest and the colours are so vivid with the cotrasting reds and rich blues in the sky. A beautiful shot of a great scene Dennis.

Thanks also for all your comments on my images.

Cheers - Ann :)
