Andre, Graet moment captured here and a precious family memories. I have tons of old film pictures and negatives and so far only scanned relativelly few. It takes time to scan and condition but it's always surprising what you can do or re-discover in old arts again. Happy boys, enjoyable scene. Cheers, n.j

Great looking sight Andre, I never did master this as a pastime. Still, I guess Canadians are apt to learn the technique very early while everything is still flexible. Great memories and thank-you for sharing my friend. Very best wishes to you.....Ray

Super super B+W tones and contrast, love the composition, love the frame, and did I mention the tones? !!!

Sweet shot Andre! I bet the little guy flies around on his own by now. And I bet the big one plays a mean guitar? (Just guessing) I love these sibling shots. Good catch.

If you want a great hockey player, get them out on the ice as soon as they can crawl! This photo reminds me of a part of a biography on Wayne G....I hope to find it on tape or disc.

Thanks Andrzej,
Yes, great memories!!
One of the mistakes that I made when first scanning my negatives was that I would save the file much too small. At the time I didn't realize how important it was to have a decent size file to work with in PS. You are right... It's a lot of fun giving these older images a new life!

Thanks Ray,
I think Canadians are born with skates on :)

Thanks Mervo,
I liked the look of the tone and detail in the two boys. The ice is a little stark. But I don't think it hurts the image. I think it works fine this way too.

Hi Susie,
They both fly around on their own pretty good now a days :)
The little guy in this shot is actually the one in the guitar shot I posted a couple of days ago.

Well if he's training for hockey then it is indeed flying training. (hehe) A great shot. Canadians are born to skate....and go curling. :)

Thanks for dropping by my waterfall images Andre.

Cheers - Ann :)

Hi Mark,
I remember the first time we had the older of the two on skates. It was amazing! He just stood up on the ice and started to skate :) The whole process took about five minutes! He was about 4 at the time. I think that is the secret... start young. Just like swimming. The younger son in this shot was almost 3 years old.

Hi Ann,
I'm not much for curling :) But love hockey!
Your waterfall shots were great. Shots from that area always remind me of "Twin Peaks" The old David Lynch tv series.

wonderful scene, I like the brother think, reminds me of the days I would follow my brother around to play baseball and football, we didnt have much hockey going on in those days, kind of wish we did....
great shot..

Hi Andre,

a small step for a man, but a great step.. =) great memory of the past. Maybe the frame came out a bit heavy here. anyway, nice work.

best wishes, Thilo

Andre Denis   {K:56175} 1/28/2006
Thanks Marcus,
There are pluses and minuses of having a brother close enough in age that you can hang around and play with them.
These two were born just far enough apart so that there wasn't any of that nasty sibling rivalry. Well, maybe sometimes, but they were usually pretty good. I'm 14 years older than my brother, so that was a whole different kind of thing with us.

Thilo,
A great memory and it seems like yesterday!

I thought about what you said about the frame Thilo. I went back and looked at some of my others and I have to say I agree 100%. My thinking now is that I should have gone with a lighter frame to fit the mood better. I think this is probably the case in a few of my other images as well. It can make a difference.
Thanks for this suggestion. I will be more consious of it in future.
