Yours is the second picture today that used the technique of working with a negative image to create a striking image. Until I read your explanation I never would have figured out what was the basis of the image. I really like the colours and random patterns of this image - abstract ART indeed!

Steve this is quite a beautiful work of art. Very easy on the eyes. I'm wondering when you did this if you had the result in mind or did it just evolve? Some artists need to have a reference to paint and others just kind of wing it and come up with masterpieces. Jsut wondering which category of genius you fall into. :) The colours are so vibrant. I see where it got it's texture. Thank you for including the original. It's very well done. Great job.
Cheers - Ann :)

Hi Steve! Without doubt you did a great art-work, a very beautiful composition; it’s a very attractive abstract in deed! I’m just wondering why you didn’t decide for the original! Both of them are so eye-catching that make very difficult for a choice! Isn’t it true?! Best regard: Maxime

It just evolved, Ann. I've always liked working with inverted colors. One of the nice things about the texture is that there is detailed texture with the negative that didn't show up well or at all in the original. I'm really pleased you like it. Best wishes and gay pompoms, Steve

Thanks, Maxime. You're right; it was difficult to decide not just to present the original. One thing I like about negative art is that it brings out textures that weren't obvious in the original. Best, Steve

The result of your elaboration is a splendid abstract picture, with colors lives, saturates and absolutely pleasant. Bravo.

Hi Steve, I work with negative images too. I'm not too keen on using PS "artistic" filters and effects, unless there is a good reason, and they are used intelligently. Sometimes the actual image just won't do, and after countless trials and errors, the "invert" button comes to mind. What if?... I think you took an ordinary looking shot and turned it into a solid abstract with wonderful graphic quality and one that can stand on its own, even without an explanation. Best regards, Ina

Thanks very much, Ina. I'm really pleased you like it. I do think that we take each picture for a reason. And, if somehow, something is wrong with the picture (out of focus, i.a.) that the reason is still somehow there, or the emotion we attached to the photo is still somehow there. If we can still retrieve the reason or emotion, even through manipulation, such as inversion, that it may well be worthwhile doing so. And sometimes it's just good fun to play with something to look at it in a way that wasn't originally intended. The above is one reason that often alter contrast and saturation, often with landscapes, but will all of my photos, really. Often it's the alteration that allows more of how I felt when I was taking the picture to come through. Does that make sense? All the best, Steve

Hi Steve, you're absolutely right, I feel exactly the same. For me a shot is only the beginning, I never know what some things may turn into later on. I think picture-taking is only half the fun :)

Hi Steve, this abstract picture caught my eyes with strong colors and texture. I had a surprise when I saw the original image: so different of the final result ! Good work. Luciana
