About Another pic from Orakei Korako Geyersland & Cave-The Hidden Valley.
I was fascinated with this particular area as the shapes, colour and craters were like another planet!?
Formed by hydrothermal eruptions between 8,000 and 14,000 BC, the Artist Palette remains today one of the most dangerous and unpredictable area's on the resort. The thickness of the silica in some places are as little as 20mm.Activity varies so much, that at times the springs discharge masses of hot water which cover the silica flat creating ideal conditions for algae growth, transforming this awesome area into unimaginable beauty aptly named The Artist's Palette- "Kei Runga Ite Mania".

The patterns are great and the tonality of greys and whites brings them out! Beautifully presented!

Tabitha,

Nice capture, and a brilliant explanation of the shot. Thank you. Would have loved a nice black framing of the pic - would have added to the appeal.

best regards,
Avishek
