This one is more spectacular than the color version. It's crystal clear, perfect B & W, and the intertwined shapes really stand out. Great texture in the grass, too. My preference is this one. Ina

I love it in color too, the colors are very natural, still - I prefer the B & W. In color it's a great photograph, in B & W it's a work of art. I think you have extracted the work of art from the photograph. That's how I see it. You've made it stronger. I'm partial to landscape orientation in general, so that's a subjective consideration, although I think the grass is a great textural element that is missing in the vertical version. I'm sure others will see it differently.

I'm using photoshop 7, but you could use photoshop 6. I have an article submitted to Al as a PS walkthrough, but here are the basics:
- Convert to grayscale
- Use levels (brightness and contrast) to balance for pure whites and blacks. I usually add more contrast as well because black and white lends itself to more graphical "pop" if you bring out textures rather than color to tell the story.
- I use quick mask on selective areas and readjust the levels for an overall feel.

Red - I was told it would work well for B&W... IR, I don't thinks is compatible with my Canon.
