About This is my friend Sharon\'s little boy, Taylor, at his little brother's 1st birthday (3 days ago). I use my speedlite, bounced off the ceiling, but taped a little bit of white card to the flash head, to direct some light back into the eyes.

Very nice, Sarah. I bet Sharon is very pleased. That bounce and white card trick works great, doesn't it?

The old white card on the flash trick (said in Maxwell Smart Voice)! It obviously works well. I haven't used it yet. It works since you can't see all the dark parts of the face usually created with ceiling bounce, but you have an even illumination with a nice catchlight. The photo is not as nice as the Jenny portrait, but then again I'm sure this was one of those party snap shots you don't have all day for. He looks like a little cheeky character with that smile on his face. A nice memory for mum to have. Soon you will have requests to do kids parties, especially with those pro borders you add. Very classy ;-)

Thanks Mark and Andrew.

I'm really pleased with the way the little white card worked. I'd only read about it before taking this series of photos, so I was very happy to find out that it actually works.!!!

I like this picture. I would personally put it under project Expression of character, for it is a perfect character portrait.
