About While visiting Lugu Hu (on the Yunnan-Sichuan border), I travelled around the shores of the lake and met this cute young girl (three years old) with her father outside their home. I asked to take a few photos of her and this is one of the results. The photo was taken in the part of the lake known as the "Sea of Grass", on the Sichuan side. Note the boatman in the background.

Incredible..really really. I would have left just a little bit more room over the little ones head fro scaling reasons(small child/big world) but wow this is fantastic work.

Wonderful capture James! I love portraits of kids... they are always powerful and intense, and ful of magnestism, just like this one. Black and white looks great in here! The DOF is great too. Well done!

hi audra.... first, thanks for you comment. your idea on "small child, big world" is something i hadnt thought of but it is a great idea, and i hope to do some photography in that vein some time soon. kids are easier than adults to photograph in many parts of china so the opportunities are endless.

allow me some time to look at your portfolio in due course.

nice to meet another new photographer at UF.

warmest regards. james

A wonderful expression here James, I really like the crop and the way we can see the man in the boat behind, it gives us a bit of the feel of the area. Alison
