About The Mavericks Big Wave Surf Competition 2006 began and ended yesterday. Surf reached heights of nearly 50 feet. This initially was one of my favorite images.
I'm currently in the process of reviewing a batch of 1300 images and selecting the best of the best. If you care to see more please access my web site where a recap of the event is summarized in an article and numerous photos are posted. Thanks for your time and comments.

Great shot, Jim! I love the balance between the crests of the two waves, and the surfer's attack across the face of the back wave makes a powerful point of focus.

WOW Jim. I saw this on TV yesterday. The size of these waves were awesome. I saw a couple of wipeouts on TV and thought *ouch* that had to hurt. How do they survive all that white wash churning them around in such huge surf. You've captured a fantastic double wave image here. A really nice set. Huge waves and beautifully formed. Perfect timing with the guy going down the wall like that and a great amount of seafoam to balance the gorgeous green olour in the waves. Spectacular image. Very impressive.

Cheers - Ann :)

That aside, I like this photo very much. And those waves are mindblowing!
