About Smoking ban applies - but not if your the pub owner. ISO 1600 but more like 3200 as this was a grab shot and my camera was in manual - 125th sec at F2.2 which was the exposure i was using earlier at iso 250 with flash. I turned up the ISO to 1600 and my previous exposure was only a stop out - luck as this was a quick grab shot.

Lovely how the flame lightens up his face. Brilliant portrait.

Wow, if all your grab shots look like this...

Greetings,

Hey Keith. Another good shot of Slim! Hes' starting to look like the Grand Canyon now.Match light-yes. Light on hair- Fluoescent or window? ( Nit picking now, but I do it all the time, Ask Shane!) The fag is well lit by now- its half smoked in fact, so its posed rather than spontanious, which doesn't qualify it for a Great shot. I would have liked a little plume of smoke as well.. But this is all "Hurler on the Ditch " stuff, but my honest critique. Slainte , Larry

Keith Fitzgerald   {K:1117} 2/12/2006
Hi Larry,
Its fluoescent, but really dull lighting as well as you gather by the exposure, its not posed though - more thought about as i guessed slimm was going to light the fag again (its a roll up), i took 3 shots through lighting the match and this one was the only one that looked half decent. No smoke though but i might try and reconstruct this shot during some quite week night

Larry O'Neill   {K:1285} 2/12/2006
Hey Keith, Just after I posted I had another look and copped it was a roll up! Line about pose withdrawn.... Some charecters in Kirwins tho'. Try focusing on the back of someones head sometime, then tap them on the shoulder and when they turn around -SHOOT! you'd be amazed at the expressions. Slainte, Larry

Keith Fitzgerald   {K:1117} 2/13/2006
hey Larry, truth be told I missed the best moment and my exposure was a whole stop out, if i got things perfect after a few drinks then i would be something special or should drink more often. There are 3 charactors in the pub i'm dying to get, i know the technique your on about but tapping them on the shoulder changes the moment, i prefer a short telephoto and hope to strike it lucky. This wednesday I'm bringing down the print of Slimm and that should allow me the priv. of doing some posed shots, i know its altering the moment but can you imagine a reflector bouncing the light from a match back into the shadows?

Excellent done Keith - the fire and how it lit his face.

Jeanette

GOOD ONE! I like this, and how lucky can you get with a 'grab shot'?
Very nice image.
Lori :)
