it's a crop, isn't
i've the same lens, and i've never been able to take a pic like this.....
have you mistaken the name of the lens, or u used a Canon MP-E 65mm 1-5X
or what else?

David this has the Kenko Extension Tubes 12-20-36 added on the lens. It helps. I also use my Canon 580EX flashand it adjusts the tubes light loss.The tubes are set up to use Canon's TTL system for AF and exposure also. Get them if you want close Macro. The tubes are a set of three, but they can be used one at a time too.-Rich
