About The listed settings really go with the picture I have included in the comment section. I was playing around trying to make this a little more dramatic and emphasize the connection between the eyes of baby and her dad. This kind of adjustment is new for me, so I'd be interested in your thoughts--good and improvements needed.
Thanks.

the image is wonderful and with very great moment while also the lighting is perfect . all of the best my friend .

Del Metheny   {K:25369} 2/23/2006
I think the subdued lighting on just the faces of the two of them accomplishes just what you intended. It emphasizes the eyes of both of them which is how the connection is best shown. You are becoming quite artistic. Del.

Quix Photography   {K:20204} 2/23/2006
awweeeeeeeee! Gorgeous shot Mary.
I love the b&w... makes you see exactly what is passing between father & daughter... has really worked well... bet this one is going on there wall )

Keep well & bright

I love the way they are studying eachother, nice composition and tones and a sweet double portrait. Alison

Susie OConnor   {K:34798} 2/24/2006
This is great Mary. I love the treatment here. Did you select the outside parts and darken, then vignette? It worked great however you did this. Really well cropped as well. Nice job!
Susie

J. Michael Soliz   {K:1376} 2/24/2006
Very well done! I would have never known you had doctored the pic if you hadn't show the original! Amazing!

John Loreaux   {K:85782} 2/24/2006
Beautiful photo Mary!!
Love what You did here!!
The effect is terrific!
Heartwarming composition My Friend! My best.................John

Czeslav Gavinkovski   {K:7154} 2/24/2006
Great lighting and capture.Bravo!
Czeslaw.

Mark Sherman   {K:15484} 2/24/2006
really well done. feel's so very real and gentle.

Dr. Rafael Springmann   {K:86479} 2/24/2006
I understood your "about" only after seing the original. I can't, for the life of me, however, suggest in any way how to make the main photo more dramatic. You worked wonders, dear Mary. Whereas the pink photo is a bit commonplace, the B&W one has all the drama i can imagine.
My "Airport 2" was actually captured before leaving back home, but you're right about the feeling.
You will have noticed that my recent photos were captured in Uruguay. In that country, we were told, everything is done "eventually", so ever since coming back from there, I live in slow motion. That's the reason for being so late in thanking for your comments on them. The girl building the tower actually finished it without it toppling over once. At age 8 I found that a real accomplishment. Patiece does pay of.
Best regards,
Rafi

Roger Williams   {K:83282} 2/25/2006
I think you had the right idea here, Mary. Very effective PS work. I specially like the illumination concentrating on the two faces.

Giulio Rotelli   {K:28400} 2/25/2006
una composizione ottima: amo il taglio quadrato e come il bianco e nero enfatizzi ancora di più la scena molto intima.
Ottimi anche i dettagli, e stupendo lo sguardo del padre: un momento inripetibile

greg collins   {K:11930} 2/26/2006
Nice shot. Like the way you blacked out the background - really add impact to the emotion in this shot.
Regards Greg

Robert Kocs   {K:89061} 2/27/2006
What a melting moment, great photograph with lovely details.
Love the well executed work, full of emotive elements.
Great composition! Very nice b&w portrait shot!
Well done dear Mary!

Have a nice day!
Robert

Khaled Mursi Hammoud   {K:52411} 2/27/2006
I think the way you managed it with only ligh on the the baby and his dad made us to concentrate only on their faces and excluding anything else that could be in the photo which gives us exactly the feeling you want.
Excellent work Mary,
Khaled.

Marian Man   {K:67026} 2/27/2006
perfect lighting dear Mary!!!!!! what a tender moment captured here!!!!! absolutely gorgeous!!!!! bravo!!!
my very best regards
Marian

Mary Brown   {K:68553} 2/28/2006
Hi Susie. I was playing with the Filter-Render-Lighting Effects in PS7. I don't remember exactly what had as I tried a bunch of combinations. I do think Spotlight and Soft Omni were what I ended up with here. Any vignetting is a result of the Lighting Effects.
MAry

Jean Dorais   {K:108} 3/1/2006
Mary,

Pierre Martin   {K:3355} 3/7/2006
Hi Mary,

Great job on the edit! I can't imagine doing anything else to improve what you've already done! Excellent close cropping! Gorgeous photo!

My only comment is I notice a series of concentric circles from the light gradient in the background, if my monitor's contrast/brightness happens to be up a little too high. Otherwise, at normal settings it looks fine.

Take care!

Silvia  Castañeda Puchetta   {K:333} 3/7/2006
Beautiful. Like the life is. Congratulations!
From the other point of the America's map.
Silvia

Mary Brown   {K:68553} 3/7/2006
Hi Pierre. Thanks or your comment. You saw the circles. Before uploading, I see them at home if the brightness is up a bit. However, when I tried an upload, they did not seem to be apparent here. I guess it's your eyes being so well atuned to small details. That's great, I appreciate your mentioning them as I really do want to know anything that needs attention in my pictures. It's the only way to learn. This tells me I will have to experiment some more with the lighting tools and see how to get the desired effect without the concentric circles. Thanks.
Mary

Paul's Photos   {K:34954} 3/8/2006

A very compelling image, Mary! A very good conversion to b/w, and I think your lighting effects produce the intended effect. Well done, indeed!
Dave.

Bruce Harper   {K:5305} 3/10/2006
Nice bit of PS work Mary, getting rid of the flash shadows, converting to b&w and highlighting their faces has really lifted a common photo into a strong portrait. Well done.

Sergio M. Cameno   {K:7682} 3/16/2006
