HI Chris,
Love it...to be honest, I don't see anything I don't like here. Your composition is wonderful, and so original, perfect.
Love the sillhouette (did I spell that right?)of the person is fantastic, adds interest. (and possibly I see another person back there?)
Probably the only thing I notice (only after careful scrutiny mind you!!) is perhaps too much contrast for the white water, can't see much detail. However, it doesn't really bother me at all.
I think this is a fantastic photograph!

There is nothing quite like a 12 meter under sail slicing its way through the water. As Lori said, I don't think there is much to critique on this image in the way of improvements. It is just right the way it is. Only thing that would make this picture better would be if it was hanging in my living room. ;=]
If you have any others in the series, please post them, I could look at those yachts all day long.

Unlike Phil, I'm not a fan of sailing on high or low seas, hot sun and splashes of salt water - Yuk!
As others have said, there's nothing much wrong with this image, the exposure, colours and detail captured are all spot on. The silhouetted person behind the pattened sails adds interest too. My pikpicking is I find the placement of the boat in the frame a little too close which gives this viewer (at least) a feeling of needing to pull back from the computer. The extra long format is probably needed in this kind of shot, but doesn't work for me.

Hi Audrey thanks for the honest feedback.
This shot is a departure from most of my sailing images. The rest are very straight forward, whereas this one has a more experimental crop and orientation. I find that a horizontal pano works better for most of my 12 Meter shots.

Hi Chris, there's not much more to add to the things I already commented on your 12M series. So smooth and elegant. In this case, the sectional view in combination with the semi translucent 3DL Genoa a and the perfect upwind trim of the sail is just perfect.Spectacular image, even better in full pano. Please, keep 'm coming!

A really nice capture, Chris. There's a nice sense of speed in this photo. I love the silhouette person behind the sail.
My personal preference - and it's just a preference - would be to crop the photo differently. I'm not sure why, but it bothers me a little that there's a short flat cropping of the sail at the very top with just a small horizontal blue stripe.
I thought about what you might do differently. One thought would be to simply crop the right side to make the edge of the sail form a diagonal from the very upper right corner. The other solution, and I've appended an example, would be to crop a fair amount of the top. I think such a crop wouldn't diminish the feeling of speed, but would enhance the feeling of power (which you may not care about - and I can understand that - I have to add that I know next to nothing about sailing). In either case I do think altering the lighting and contrast a little bit would perk up the photo a bit. Again that's just personal taste talking about an already fine photograph.

I'm with you, It's the first experience with digital camera and strong ps change.
Looking your portfolio I find great boat shots, I belive isn't easy to make interesting pictures, not only mody of boats. In yours there are a good work.
There are sense of frame and perfect tecnic. Interesting. Ciao Matteo
