Very nice Luis!
I like the way you have isolated the Captain's profile, hand and his mascot. I think by doing this in your over-lay you force the viewer to concentrate on the main aspects of the subject. I assume that the circular feature is a porthole on the side of the Captain's boat, so It all goes together fine for me!
ps
The image is gritty and tough looking and that goes with the hard life of the Captain.
I hope I got that somewhat right :)

I totally agree with Andre. The textures really make this pic look rugged and warn as if it has been at sea with the captain for all his days. I love how he blends into the darkness and the low perspective
