Andre Denis   {K:56625} 3/1/2006
Hi Susie,
Whether they are fresh cut, dried or even just buds, it is hard to resist taking shots of roses.
This is a nice example. Roses are deceivingly difficult to shoot. I find that anyway. I think it is because of the velvety texture of the petals.
Andre

Gabriela Tanaka   {K:17991} 3/1/2006
This is EXCELLENT, Susie!!! Not only beautiful, but technically very well rendered. The red colour is amazing and, of course, the contrast with the black around it makes it shine! My sincere compliments for this creation!!!
Best regards,
Gabriela

A g reat angle of view Susie, nice light and a great presentation. I might have moved the rose up in the frame a little as it seems a bit centered now. Nice work . Don.

Susie OConnor   {K:34798} 3/2/2006
Thanks for the suggestion Don. I always love to get these tidbits from the master flower photographer..you! Please always feel free!
Susie

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 3/2/2006
Hi Susie, congratulations on the new 50mm - which one is it? I know there are two in the Canon line with different apertures.
Amazing sharpness, the edge of the top petal is razor-sharp, and the reds are perfectly saturated! I can see the veins on the R/H side of the bud. Great contrast with the greens, and I love that DOF! The 50mm should be great for portraits too! Best regards, Ina

Susie OConnor   {K:34798} 3/2/2006
Hi Ina,
I got the 50 mm 2.5. I was thinking of the 1.4 but was counseled that the 2.5 would be a little more versatile. I've been having so much fun with it. A lot to learn though! I'll be a flower taking fool this summer and I can't wait to try it with some portraits. )
Susie

Susie OConnor   {K:34798} 3/2/2006
Hi Kelly,
I picked up the 50 mm 2.4 lens. It has been a blast so far. I have no idea what kind of stuff I can do with it, so I'm really experimenting right now. Any tips? )
Susie

Rina     {K:27041} 3/2/2006

Well lit, Susie. The saturated upper pedal has an almost transparent quality - as if the light was transmitted from behind. The picture is as good as having the flower!
