BOLD abstraction reminds me of paintings by the Russian Supremacists or 1960s "cool school" New York painters. Lots of energy and flair!

pretty photo, well executed...but to me it lacks a strong subject.

Hi Glenn, Interesting photo, but it doesn't really work for me, I'm afraid. I think that's because there's not a single horizontal or vertical reference in this composition (the vertical beam also has a small tilt) but the angles are not quite pronounced enough to make the perspective "tick". The tones are good, yet could use some refinement. Specifically in the top left corner, which looks just a tad too dark. I do like the soft light, and the reflection of the orange shutters in the metal.

As to the composition, I think you've tried to include just a bit too much; the dark top, then the beam, the shutters, and the window underneath, In all, there are six areas of interest. A slightly more pronounced camera tilt and a more limited view to about four quadrants would've created a more harmonious image, I believe. Hope you see what I mean.

Cheers,

Hugo
