About A line of dog trainers working on pavement in the rain . . . as opposed to wet grass and mud. One dog sits alone. He does so while I take the photo. Setting at 28mm. F9.

This si very nice with selective coloring! I had to take my dog out of obedience classes because he was TOO BAD!!! He is an Australian Cowdog- a rowdy one at that!

vanessa shakesheff   {K:62647} 3/13/2006
HA HA love this ..love the selective colouring ..great line up ..the dogs sitting to attention and the owners all over the place ..7/7..nessa

Doyle,
I love this image a lot. It's not the best you shot but it could be if...the horizon wasn't tilting and your dog was in B&W. A pitty the sky is white ( or grey?) but that were the circumstances in which you worked.
But that's only my view, the others liked the selective colouring :)
Keep up the good work!
Grtz,

Alain

:)
It make me smile a lot!
The choice of the b/w with the single colour dog is genial and makes me think differents keys of interpretation :)
Bye

A very nice capture. It caused me to smile.

Thanks for the comment Kay . . . Maybe you need to buy your dog a cow to calm it down? (hehehee)

Thanks Nessa . . . If you don't have kids at home anymore, you borrow the grandkids or use pets! I still have one boy at home but he has more sense than to go stand in the rain with a bunch of wet dogs!

Alain:
I tried the whole Black & White initially and didn't care for it. Possibly just a personal preference. And you're right about the sky. I would have preferred roiling thunderheads and a little lightning. But . . . as you say . . . you get what you get. The horizon may be tilting, but I can't tell, the field behind is a golf course and I think the crossbar on the fence may lead to that impression. At any rate, thanks for the comments . . . I appreciate you taking the time out to bring up that which I may not have considered. It is just such critiques which help us all to become better.

Regards,
Doyle I

Or timer or wanting to be out of the rain. Looks good to me. I like the added color saturation.

A very good idea, the complement to the colored part is missing! Brilliant concept photo!

I only would wish a bit more sharpness here butz otherwise very good work and very good thought!

Doyle D. Chastain   {K:99493} 4/3/2006
Thanks Nick . . . appreciate the comment . . . I think the issue about sharpness became a moot point because I was the missing dog's owner and the distance and the rain effectively affected the sharpness and focus.

Nick Karagiaouroglou   {K:84841} 4/6/2006
Oh, I understand! I should have imagined that it was you, though!

Hahaha.. good won. :) Looks like he's obeying, ey? I like the way you've emphasized him by leaving him in subtle colors.

Best
Dave

Excellent image especially the colorizing of your dog.

The only thing I would suggest is straightening the image a bit. Seems just a tad bit off.

Doyle D. Chastain   {K:99493} 7/24/2006
Thanks Lisa . . . Point well seen and critique well made! Alain had mentioned the horizon to me in March and still I didn't really see it . . . now . . . it sort of leaps out at me. That proves at least one thing . . . no matter how much you learn . . . you still have to keep the basics in mind!

Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~
