Beautiful shot, really amazing colours (especially the sky). Is it my imagination, or does that guy have no ropes?

Dawn Chadwick   {K:347} 2/20/2003
The ropes kinda got lost in the picture, but they are there. The girl at the bottom is belaying the climber. Thanks for commenting! :)

Cool shot, Dawn. Love the colors. I'll have to get another polarizer before I go next time (cracked it on a rock a month or so ago while hiking... thank God the lens is fine!). I think I might like a tighter crop on this one to focus more on the climbers. Maybe at an angle such that the tree on the left is out of the way, but the rock formation is still in view.

Well I left the trees in on purpose, because I thought it gave it more contrast, and showed exactly how far down the ground really is, but I do wish more emphasis could be placed on the climbers. I tried a crop without the trees and it seemed to loose too much. But I agree with you on the climbers. I wish they were more visible. I have other climbing photos. I'll try to post more of those later.

Dawn I understand the draw this sport/location/lifestyle grabs a photographer.YOUR desire must leave the road/trail where you are and actually get up there and close to the people that are doing what they do!Or just learn to climb. End rant/

Dawn,

This is a wonderful shot. I think it could be a tiny bit sharper but it stands on it's own now.

Beautiful color, good composition. Typically, I like for the climbers to appear a little larger in the frame (just my opinion), but that can be hard to do when including the landscape like this. Nice work overall.
