About Taken with my sub-$150 setup. This is a first time I used a well known technique of combining several macro shots with a different focus point to get a larger DoF. Belive it or not, I had to combine 5 photos to get this 3mm DoF, and it wasn't even enough! First, I used a free PanoTools+Hugin to align the (handheld!) shots and than dump the aligned TIFF files. The actual combining was done in the Gimp. The result is probably my sharpest image so far. Hope U like it!

Excellent macro Domjan!
Now I´m undestanding well about you mean about multiple shots combination... I too difficult to get a large dof in a single shot.. I´ll study about this technic..
Regards!
Roberto.

What I found most helpfull when doing the preliminary work of sorting through a stack of different-focus-point photos is this:
Make the copy of all the photos and rescale is to 800x600. Do a edge detect and convert to grayscale. Now you can very easily see the sharpest points of a each photo and choose the minimal number of photos to cover the target DoF. Here is a sequence of such images. You can clearly see the difference in focus point.
