Hi Jim, A great shot! The distortion adds to the motion and hectic feel of this photo. Also, the reflection of the time (or however you created that) sketches the story nicely, leaving a lot to the viewers interpretation. I believe that's what makes a strong shot and creates a tremendous impact.
Even though you posted this in the CC, I wouln't know what to say about how to improve this photo; from artistical point of view, I think there's not much to improve, or too subjective to mention... I'd love to see more of this type of photos; Embedded in a series, I think the theme might be even stronger, if that's possible. Great stuff!
I know how difficult it is to keep up a single upload for a year... It means no vacation... But if you can keep up this high quality work, I'm really impressed!

I'm pretty much in complete agreement with Hugo, Jim. I like your shot quite a bit. I think that anytime you create a piece of art, as opposed to a mere replication of a scene, what you end up with has almost everything to do with what your intention is. I can tell you till I'm blue in the face what I think might or might not be done to the photo, but that would be imposing my intention on yours.
So, without knowing your intention, it's tough to say anything about changing or improving the photo. What's important is that you're able to articulate to yourself what your intention was, and then evaluate how well the photo approaches your intention.
Does the photo achieve your intention? I don't know. But I sure like it.

Hugo thanks for your critique. This actually is part of a series. I've not posted all of them here, but they're slowly taking shape on my web site. This is exactly what I envisioned. I had seen this a couple days earlier and didn't take the shot. Eventually the day I took this the lighting was better and I was able to quickly compose my image how I wanted.
The way I figure it all of photography is subjective. I'm open to hearing others interpretation to what is visually compelling in this type of image. There is no right or wrong merely interpretation. Again thanks for your comments and visit to my photo a day web site.

Steve after taking this photo and evaluating it I definitely felt that my intention was achieved. Fortunately luck was on my side this day and the lighting gods were looking down on me favorably. Thanks for your comment.
