This is absolutely adorable Rina! I LOVE it! The expression on her face is priceless, and your tones are so good! All three of these uploads are wonderful!!! Well done!

Rina,
I'm guessing you didn't want to crop the top of the chair out of this one in order to give some scale to the little girl?
It probably would have been okay with some of the top of the chair cropped away too. Just a matter of personal preference. Again, the toning is great.

I just love all three of today's posts Rina. Each has it's own special charm. Your tones are wonderful, love those browns. This one has a great expression...you've caught her at the perfect moment!

Actually, here's the thing with this one... there's a sign to the top-right with her name (morgan) spelled out in white chalk. I guess it's not that clear! I think maybe DoF too tight... But that's one reason for leaving so much at the top. Of course, the chair also has it's charm... :)

Thanks for taking the time to critique these Andre. Parents are always going to LOVE pics of their kids, but I'm not going to rely on those reactions to get me by!!!

It's hard for me to choose a favourite out of your last 3 pictures dear Rina. They are all great pictures, i loved their sepia tones and their dream quality they have. You've done a great work, excellent!

Rina     {K:26830} 4/10/2006
Thank you Pan ;)...

Hi Rina,
Now that you point it out, the name is mildly visible. But, if you didn't know it was there... I doubt most people would notice it because of the DOF.

Beautiful mono toned composition with a touch of soft sepia I think. The backlighting is superb and the captured expression is priceless, as Kathy writes. If we could read thoughts I'm sure it would be along the lines of:- 'D--n, I knew I should have put my money on number three'.:):) I love the crop to this shot my sweet angel and if you want all the chair back in the shot then that's OK with me baby. All the very best my lovely girl; I'm off to see your third offering...Rayxxx

hi, this appears to be a candid capture because her lost in thought expression appears to be genuine...if that is the case, then i can accept the fabric? that is to the right (as viewed) of her chest...ideally it would be nice for it not to be there ;> ....again,i love the toning and like B/W,it keeps the focus on what is of primary interest, the child,as well as shows better where the light hits ...various colors would distract IMO....as you know, her lower back is blown-out,but has been my experience with PSP8 that you can't do much to correct since an abscence of pixels...maybe gamma or levels to tone it down just a tad?...you took a risk with the narrower format, but i think it works because it fits with the story-bookish tall chair...cutie-pie!
cheers,gayle

Fabric may be too polite a term for it! Is actually bright-red-plastic-party-table-cover!!! LOL! You are so right Gayle, it sticks out, don't it??

I did appreciate hearing your opinion on why tones work better to keep the subject in focus than colour. I agree with you wholeheartedly.

So good to have objective sets of eyes looking at this. Thank you :)

Gayle's Eclectic Photos   {K:91003} 4/12/2006
hahaha...ok,that explains why the bottom corner of table covering is toward the viewer and doesn't have same dof as other part of it...i was baffled and didn't know how to ask..LOL..guess the plastic table coverings are universally popular as i have a collection of the sturdier ones!

LMAO!!! I think I'll call it a night... have to go watch "Lost". Hated the show in the beginning and now I'm hooked!

The tones on these three pictures are super. It is quit a striking color for these little ones. The face on this little girl is classic. Wonderful soft lighting and and great detail!!!
