Funny shot and title.

While the shallow DOF helps concentrate the attention on the giraffe, I'm not sure if it works overall because the bridge is anyway so prominent and takes up so much of the image. Maybe a crop of just the left of the image would help.

Very well composed, very different. You don't nomally see a giraffe in the city of sydney. I think more DOF to have the bridge in focus would have been better. The giraffe would still have stuck out. Keep up the good work.

Jason: The giraffe looks wistful. Perhaps homesick.

thanks for the comment Kevin, this shot was taken back in 97. I went last year to see if i could repeat this shot with the 20D to know avail the DOF on this shot would of been around 8-16 i had a tripod with the 20D and a DOF of 22 and the bridge was still out of focus due to the compression of the telephoto lens, can't win them all. thanks again for taking the time to look at my photo and comment

Those lucky Giraffes. Excellent composition and colour on the Giraffe, Jason. The white sky spoilt it for me, though. Just needs something in the right hand side. Cheers, Ann.

Jason Mckeown   {K:19568} 4/18/2006
Funny you say that Ann, in the original shot there was some dead branches in that corner that were removed due to they looked shocking there.
I'll be up your way in June for a few weeks, might catch up if i get a sec and you don't mind.
