A great inflight shot, Marcus! A little different, but also a worthwhile addition to your portfolio! You've got wonderful detail and colours, especially those eyes, and this is probably the only way most of us will ever get to see a sight like this.
Dave.

Dear Marcus, you seemed to be away for a Chile but you’re back with a load of lovely shots and you’ve changed a cam I noticed- happy of that? The shot is marvelous and if you’re not sure if you like the flight close up- be sure we love it !! Such a precision here !! And great thanks for your comment on my “escape”- it’s a real treasure for me! Best regards, Pawel

Laura Spell   {K:24080} 4/18/2006
Unusual close up of the bird of prey. The details are superb. I would like it better if there was more room on the left.

Joggie van Staden   {K:41275} 4/18/2006
Outstanding image indeed. I like the pinsharp detail and the colours but most of all the tight crop and strong angular lines in this composition. The rump and wings look as solid as rock and the eyes piercing. Wonderful shot of a fearless creature. Great work Marcus.
Joggie

George Black   {K:101993} 4/18/2006
It is very powerful to get in so close. The effect is superb. How on earth did you manage such sharpness and precision in this shot with such a big heavy lens? I'm amazed . . . ;-)

Regards,
--George

Hi Marcus,
I think this is great! More bird and less sky suits me any time! As someone else mentioned, at the very least, it allows a lot of us to see something up close with great detail that we would not normally have a chance to see. Come to think of it I might not want to see one this close without some protection :)
A beautiful Raptor portrait!
Andre

I can only think of one word to descibe this, Marcus...AMAZING!!! I can't image what it would be that you wouldn't like about this. The focus is incredible! Wonderful capture!
Kathy

Bruce Harper   {K:5305} 4/19/2006
Looks like he's eyeing you up for his next meal Marcus. Great crop, or great composition if this is full frame, the closeup really shows the power in the chest, and the intensity in the eyes.

Susie OConnor   {K:34798} 4/19/2006
Amazing Marcus. Your focus jsut blows me away! Terrific job as usual. Yes! I like the in flight closeups!

Great shot Marcus.

You are the inspiration for my current fascination with birds in flight pictures, unfortunately my shots pale in comparison to yours. Can you offer any advice?

All the best,
Ed

Hi Marcus, immaculate close up, and a very good display of camera control.

Can't really help you with your question, if you like it or not is your call...:) For me, I think this makes a good / rather refreshing change and addition to be shown in an array of the other photos in this series, but as a stand alone, it bears more resemblance with a lucky grab shot than with the state of the art bird photographs you manage to produce.

Having said that, I'm impressed by how you captured this, far from easy and very well done!

Cheers,

Hugo
