Sticking to traditional process yet so effective, congratulations.A real feast for hungry eyes

What a wonderful accident. Polaroid transfer is very rewarding by virtue of its unpredictability. It's messy, but amazing, and this is a great example of the fantastic results. I just bought an old 100 Polaroid Land Camera on ebay (they are really cheap) and can't wait to set up a water bath, get some watercolor paper and produce some photoart. Hope it turns out as great as this one.

Suvomoy and Betsy,

Thanks for your comments on Constantina. I actually shot three consecutive photos of her, one full body, one mid body and one just profile.

I found using cranes ecru PS8116 paper will give you unusual lifts.

The area where it is black, generally doesnt lift
Thats the fun of polariod image transfers their unprecability. Because there is no negative, they are one of a kind....except by digital scan.

I'm so glad I discovered your portfolio! I'll be glad to comment almost every single of your works. You are great. Thank you for your art. All your works, and this one is not an exclusion, have a very subtle subliminal message in it. Many of your works will go into my favorites. Thank you Gary.

Gary,

you used three things I'd love to play with at the same time, just like you did: large format, POLAROID and a beautiful woman. Together with the right technique, that you master, wonderful results are always expected.
Composition and image concept are a level above your technique - brilliant to say the least. I love the effect.

When you have a few minutes, please take a look at these images. They're quite the opposite of yours - shot with micro format (110 film), film heated by the sun on a local drugstore and, one point in common, women. Time and no care took care of the special effects. I scanned them without any kind of digital retouch because I found the effects somewhat similar to those obtained with the polaroid dye transfer process.

My best,

José Azevedo
