Hi Doyle, Love this change in focus point, and even more so to see them together. It's something I shoot regularly, but never actually placed side to side. Great idea! One small nitpicky thing, this one, as well as the large pano photo looks just a tad soft. A minor Unsharpne mask would do the trick, I believe.
Last thing, I also like this prsentation...:)

Thanks Hugo . . . I'm not clear on the advice and would dearly love to know what you mean. The image is, indeed, a tad soft. Unsharpen mask would do the trick? I'm not sure what that is . . . Sharpen selective or blur selective I might follow . . . but wouldn't sharpening add noise? You could e-mail me (see profile) if you'd like to offer more on this - and thanks so much for the critique.

This is a brilliant image and idea Doyle. You got it in five words- "beauty is where you are looking"! To capture the number of different visions just one individual has with mood is impossible- varies all the time. So I'd want the lot!

Hi Doyle. My understanding is that Unsharp Mask "masks" lack of sharpness by sharpening mid and high contrast edges only and without adding any noise to the image. It requires a little more input from the user but has a more controllable effect. I'm still experimenting with it but I think Hugo probably has a point.
I do like the contrast in these two images, and the way a technical point is being put across in the image selected to appear on the front page. Congrats on the award and the interest this presentation is generating!
For me, the image on the right works better. I think this is because the eyes are drawn first to the "bright spots" ie. the flowers, and in the left image these are not the focal points.

Thanks for the well thought out critiques you have provided me from time to time . . . I will be reading up on my new software and hope to master it soon. I will also be returning to the lighthouse.
I appreciate and thank you for the congratulations and agree that the tech points are good front page material . . . informative in an especially pertinent venue (i.e., visually). I agree about the bright spots likely to be the better choice image-wise, however, in this presentation . . . the point is made and many prefer the other image. When all is said and done - it's still a preference issue! Stay in touch my friend.

It certainly will give you some things to think about and will likely improve your skills in this medium. It's also a good place to try out new ideas. I love this Doyle !! The image says waaay more than the words do in this case--- so this leaves you really not needing to write as much--- as Yu showed MORE--- Excellent !!
