Fine soft blue colour with this ideal lightness have done the image extraordinary beautiful! Nice cropping and definition!
Best regards: Maxime

Steve, I like your very abstracted closeups, something I'd shoot quite often. All that - nice pattern and complemented shadows work well to make it an interesting composition. Colors are good addition but not necessary addition as those are very monochromed any way. Cheers, n.j

brit warren   {K:1516} 4/25/2006
The symmetry is wonderful. That blue just pops. Great shot.

Yup. I'm definitely against the black borders. The photos are wonderful in their own right, and the borders are a distraction. L, m

Steve, you have such an amazing eye. You catch great little details of composition all around you. Your work reminds me of the great Canadian photographer Freeman Patterson who once wrote a book called "Photography - the Art of Seeing". You see very well and it shows in great little images like this one. Nice use of shadow to augment the patterns in the bricks. Was the original that blue, or is that an artistic choice rendered by some computer manipulation?

Dennis

Thanks so much, N.J. Sure, the blue isn't necessary, but then again neither is any other color, or lack of color for that matter. For me the blue colors give an ancient Sumerian feel to the scene, a period to whose art and architecture I'm very much attracted (which isn't saying very much, since I'm attracted to the art and architecture of many different periods).
Anyway, I very much appreciate your comments. They made me think, which is a very good thing.
Best,
STeve

Thanks so much for your too kind comments, Dennis. I will definitely look up Freeman Patterson. I'm not familiar with him or his work.
The blue came from an inversion of the original red brick with subsequent alteration of saturation.
Thanks again.
Best wishes,
Steve
