About one last SF Skyline image.

Driving up pine street on the way home from the airport today. Was sitting too long at a stop light, and decided to look up. nearly dislocated my elbow, reaching into the back seat for my camera before the light turned green.

Very little PS work for crop, rotate, and contrast. Left the sky with just a hint of saturation, and kept the fog in the lower 'west'.

This is the building that played the title roll in the movie 'The Towering Inferno' back in the 70's.

Beautiful lines and colours; nice perspective.
Cheers,
Janet Marie ;-)

Pretty good - excellent geometry but really flat light, so the colors are not poppin'.

Boost the saturation a bit and go after levels for a higher contrast to punch out the building.

Thank you Manu!
very kind!
cheers,

Thanks Michael!

yeah... you're so right... I backed off of the saturation and contrast before I posted! thought it was too much... but you're right. most of the work in PS was just get rid of the fact that it was shot thru my car window.... lesson learned again, park the damn car, get out of traffic, and take your time w/ the shot :) ....or you might rear-end someone....

thanks Michael!

cheers,
-joel

perfect lines. disagree about the sat and levels, it's a very strong image as is. you took this through the car window? impressive :)

anna.

Joel Aron   {K:14920} 4/26/2006
Thanks anna!

very kind! :) ....ya know, i look at this now at home on an LCD screen, and its' colors and tone fit. At work, on my 21" calibrated CRT's....it's a wee bit flashed. It's gotta be one of those images that is right on the line of flat/contrasty.

Yup...looking right out my windshield ..lucked out!

thanks again for the comments!

cheers,
-joel

Terrific luck, Joel! The architect would be proud. The opacity of the windows is so surreal.

Thank you Steve!

..so luck with this one, on how sharp it is! to think all of my other SF downtown images were w/ a tripod, and this was onehanded in my car. crazy.

thanks again!

cheers,
-Joel

excellent symmetry here. impressive since you had to do it while on the move more or less. true sign of a real photographer, one that sees an opportunity and seizes it.
