I love this collage! The child is beautiful. Colors and skin tones are good. How did you get the bloom to stick on her nose? lol

Ace Star   {K:20559} 4/26/2006

excellent work

wish you all the best

Doyle D. Chastain   {K:99842} 4/26/2006
Laura:
In a priceless twist of fate, she ran up to me yelling, "Grandpa, look" then held the flower to her nose while I saw the photo op. She sniffed it . . . hard, and was holding it to her nose by sucking in hard through her nostrils so she could drop her hands! I was stunned, she was thrilled, and we all laughed long and hard . . . but I got it!

Nice shots, a nice collage, and a very nice sentiment, Doyle! The colors are great, as is the focus. Well done!
Kathy

Riny Koopman   {K:61167} 4/27/2006
Beautiful image!
I especially like your tones in this one,
very well done. And the composition is pleasing as well

Mary Slade   {K:40918} 4/27/2006
You're so right Doyle! And if the good little things add up to a good big thing, you're on a winner! To me, that is exactly what this beautiful picture shows. And she is so naturally beautiful and full of life. The colours, light and to have captured this moment...magical.

Roger Williams   {K:83282} 4/27/2006
Delightful. Maybe if there were a little more difference between the three shots (perhaps "before," "after" and "the decisive moment"?) it would have had even more impact... but I appreciate your "about." I learned to love flowers when I got a macro lens to look through at them. [g]

vanessa shakesheff   {K:65070} 4/27/2006

Susie OConnor   {K:34798} 4/27/2006
So Cute! I really love collages that tell a little story and this one certainly does that. Great exposure and focus. I like your portfolio a lot. Well done.
Thanks for your comment to me so I could come and visit you!

Oh Doyle..how I wish I had a keener sense of smell. I can catch the stronger scents but the more delicat ones I miss.
Three lovely individual compositions resulting in this lovely collage of your beautiful little granddaughter's appreciation of nature. Wonderful details and gorgeous colours my friend...Well done. All the very best....Ray

Roger:
Great thought - I have to agree with you - more difference would have been a better overall composition . . . perhaps her looking for the flower . . . or the laughter afterward. Thanks for the idea - I'll remember it in the future and that's really the true benefit from UF!

Doyle I <-----

AJ Miller   {K:45790} 4/27/2006
This is so funny and so nicely captured. Probably not the sort of image I would normally stop to look at, but I'm very glad I did.

May I make an observation on the frame? It looks as though the colours have bled a little onto it. Was this intentional? If not, I wonder how it happened.

And now it's time to add you to my list of Associates so that I stand more of a chance of spotting more of the images you upload. I very much appreciate all your comments and observations, as well as your own "abouts".

John

Very well done...Bravo.

Thank you so much John . . . I'm glad to be counted among your Associates. Thanks also for your observation about the color bleeding on the frame. My use of PS Elements 4 is VERY new and clearly I did something wrong in the layering . . . I've never used layering before. I simply did not notice it and I'm glad that you pointed it out for me. Welcome aboard John . . . Truly welcome!

a very sweet series of images. I think you would have been better off with a bigger aperture and faster shutter to give you the tight dof you've tried to simulate with post-work blurring. The problem when trying to blur around subjects is the visible transition along edges if your selection is not precise or if you haven't feathered enough. This is not so apparent in the top two images as it is in the large one.

Also, just as a presentation suggestion, why not not arrange them with the two small images on the left - vertically - and the large on the right or vice versa, thus creating a 'square' story board? :)

pan giannakis   {K:17093} 4/28/2006
What a wonderfull set of pictures, they work so well together as a subject, well done!

Doyle D. Chastain   {K:99842} 4/28/2006
Thanks Anna - some good points indeed about aperture and shutter. As so often happens in life . . . I had no warning that she was just going to be adorable for me so I had to work with the settings already placed. (Timing is everything). I will consider the presentation suggestion . . . and I appreciate your comment!

Cydney is really enjoying these moments..very nice springtime collage (although you probably have nice weather all year long).
Kind regards
Meldijana

Doyle D. Chastain   {K:99842} 5/9/2006
Not ALL year long . . . last week it plummeted all the way down to 24 degrees Celsius and it even sprinkled earlier this year! :P But despite this horribly offensive weather, we find the strength to carry on in our day to day activities.
