When i seen the thumbnail of this i thought it was a waterfall within the canyon, now i see the large shot it is a waterfall of light within the canyon, beautiful.

Bill! You came back!!! And I see you brought us back a little something here?
(dare I say, you left a little piece of yourself there perhaps?) -john

bill smith   {K:8376} 4/27/2006
Yep,I came back. Your right too about leaving a piece of me there, it was the skin from the back of my ears and the tip of my nose. I got sunburned bad where I forgot to put sunscreen!!
I had a wonderful time though. I just love nature and all the splend views she lets us see.

very nice Bill. I am going to visit the slots in November. I can't wait. I have always wanted to get this kinds of images.
You did a great job here.

cheers,
nicole

Nicole,
You are going to love the slot canyons. They are one of the strangest most beautiful places I've ever seen.
When you go I suggest you go to both the upper and lower canyon.(they are across the street from each other) The upper canyon is very crowded and you can only stay 2 hours. The lower canyon is a little harder to get into but you can stay in there for hours and I think it is a lot better than the upper. The best times for pictures is between 10am and 2pm. the light at theses times of day make the rocks look like they are on fire. I'll be posting more photos over the next week or so.
Thanks for your comment,
Bill

Bill,
This is one awesome shot.....I LOVE it. You should put it in the catagory on this site, patterns in nature or photoart!

I like seeing different versions of the same place, and Antelope Canyon is becoming very well known on usefilm.

I really like this shot - got the light and the glow down to the essentials, and great lighting.

Hey Michael,
Thanks for taking a look at my humble image's.
I hope you enjoyed them,
Bill

Michael Kanemoto   {K:22103} 8/14/2006
Nothing humble about this one! Simply a great shot. Now I wish I went and spent time in the other side instead of jockeying around on the one hour tour with large crowds.

bill smith   {K:8376} 8/15/2006
Michael,
The lower canyon dosen't much traffic in it at all due to the difficulty in getting into it.
Here's a shot of us going in. Another thing I like about the lower canyon is there is no time limit, we were in there for 5 hours.

going down

Bill...
All my photos are luck, your's are great! Do you still use the Olympus 300?

bill smith   {K:8376} 9/10/2006
Hey Dan,
My Dad use to tell me "you have to be lucky to be good and you have to be good to be lucky" so I think you have all the base's covered.
I've only had my Nikon D200 for a couple of months and spend a lot of time with it trying to learn how it works but yes I still use my Olympus E300. I plan on keeping it and adding new accessories from time to time. It a nice camera but nothing like the Nikon,
Bill

awesome shot Bill, I'm jealous. I wish I had a lightbeam like that when I was there. We actually couldn't go into the lower canyon because a flood washed away the ladders. We went to the upper and some other bonus canyons near the upper that our indian guide arranged for us.

cheers,
nicole

bill smith   {K:8376} 12/2/2006
Sounds like the other canyon might be Rattle Snake Canyon. We were allowed to spend an hour there after leaving the upper canyon. Bummer your only allowed 2 hours in the upper canyon.
The next day we went to the lower canyon and we didn't need a tour guide there so we were able to spend over 4 hours in that one.
Here's the opening that leads down into the lower canyon. Because it's kind of hard to get into we had the whole place to ourself.
BTW, I went on this trip with my Photographer school teacher. He puts togeather a lot of tours like this one..In 2008 we are going to Alaska.
C'Ya Nicole.

Roland Lacson   {K:12214} 12/2/2006
The shafts of light beaming in & the glow in the canyon walls is what makes me stare in awe. It was unfortunate that lower Antelope was closed while I was there but I still enjoyed the upper side. Anyway great capture here Bill, wish file size were bigger though.

bill smith   {K:8376} 12/3/2006
Sorry about the size Roland, I didn't know how to make them bigger back then. If you want you can see a bigger image here.
