About Image #3 from my abstract Las Vegas Series.

Standing backwards on the skywalk into Bally's to catch the monorail. The sun had just set behind the Bellagio.

The skywalk reminded me of the Six Million Dollar Man Tunnel.

Wow, it must be great to be an architect for a Las Vegas building. I mean, ANYTHING goes. This is fascinating and very attractive in its own odd way.

Joel Aron   {K:14920} 4/27/2006
Thank you Roger!

Las Vegas... very attractive and fascinating it's own odd way ;)

There's nothing pretty on the strip, so you gotta dig deep....and bring a long lens!
cheers,
-joel

Cool! Looking at these details makes me wish I woud've pulled myself together and get out there to take a few shots when I was in Vegas. The culture shock was just too big after spending a week in Death Valley, though...

Cheers,

Hugo

Joel,

Another great photograph, congratulations. It took me a moment to see deeper into the shot, but once I did I discovered more and more; just the way I like it, the surprises.

Regards,
John

Fantastic! Great colours, lines, shapes and tones! Well spotted and captured! A wonderful image, Joel!

Thanks for the comment on my 'Lipsticks' shot - no, I'm not feeling inclined to use them yet!! LOL

Cheers

Thanks john!

....Las Vegas is possibly the most crazy town to shoot in! ...like you, I find myself sinking deep ito this image every time. May not be the best, but it captured a bent, crowded glimps of the little town...

thanks so much for the very kind comments!!

cheers,
-joel

I wasn't going to comment on this. I opened it looked at it and had nothing. Was even thinking it was too busy. Then I got distracted ( I am at work) by a phone call. When my mind came back to this shot I fell for it a little bit more. It is way more than busy. The detail is of the highest level. The lines are very compelling, even the neon has a place now. I've taken that walk many times. Wow do we take things for granted. That is why I visit you Joel. Keep me thinking. Thanks, Ron.

Joel Aron   {K:14920} 5/30/2006
Ron,

Very cool comments my friend. Thank you very much!
I got this comment as I was about to head to Hong Kong, and please forgive me for the delayed reply.

I am so glad that you found something in this one. I am honored! I hope your long lens is treating you well... and if you ever have the chance to get to Hong Kong... do so. amazing *big* little city. great food. ...and a great way to fill gig cards on your camera in a single block.

cheers my friend.

Amazing how different people at different times see so differently.

Joel Aron   {K:14920} 6/6/2006
Brillllliant image Ron!

If I only had a wider lens ;)

So funny... when i was on that treadmill (whatever you call it), i must have rolled 20 images, but you *nailed* it with that!

Love that off center, perfect perspective!

cheer Ron! ....what happens in vegas... stays in vegas, and then shows up on UF. :)

Oh YEAH!
I've travelled that walkway several times, but always tended to shoot TOWARD Bally's instead of this angle. Nice layers and angles leading the eye throughout the frame, Joel.

Joel Aron   {K:14920} 6/8/2006
Thanks again Paul!

...you should see the candid I have of the 'girls of the night' trying to get a job on the walkway.... I had to get this angle very quickly so as to make it look like I was taking their picture. ;) it's not a sharp photo..and in the end, wound up with this shot...along with nearly 100 images shooting towards Bally's... cause it's so damn cool, and reminds me of the "Six-Million Dollar Man time tunnel".

cheers,
-J

Salvatore Rossignolo   {K:13547} 6/10/2006
Dude, this is cool! I really like the composition of this shot Joel, and the neon adds nice color and scale to the picture. Well done!

Thank you Sallvatore!

glad you like it! ...vegas... man... pure overload!

Jim Greenfield   {K:5212} 11/30/2006
cool shot. i like your eye for abstracts.

Joel Aron   {K:14920} 11/30/2006
Thanks Jim!

..Vegas is not the best place for abstracts, as I learned. It was my 6th time there, and this time I knew I would have time to shoot.. when I went out, I found myself crowded with information, and no shape. On the walkway back to the hotel, I found my space! :)

cheers, and thanks again!
-Joel

Doyle D. Chastain   {K:99842} 11/30/2006
Stunning shot Joel . . . crisp and clean! I Like it!

Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~

Joel Aron   {K:14920} 11/30/2006
Thanks Doyle!

i'm the only guy who goes to Vegas, and takes pictures of an elevator, and a walkway. ;)

So.. word on the street is, that you have a Goldwing!? True? I've had my GL1800 for 2 years now. It was a fine addition to my race bikes, and dirt bike. It's also nice to have a bike with a back seat. :)

cheers, and thanks for the comments!

-J
