Andre Denis   {K:56069} 4/27/2006
Hi Ray,
The detail in the white stands out beautifully against the black background. There is also a nice softness that adds to the mood of the image as well. This kind of floral shot definitely appeals more to me than the standard "garden variety" shot. If you know what I mean. It will be interesting to see what others have to say.
Andre

Very nice composition Ray.
It grows in your garden?
Regards.

Giuseppe

Love the off white toned petals and the choice of the black background which made the flower to pop out.
Excellent texture and details of this wonderful floral shot Ray.

Soft light against a very dark background, These freesias really stands out with this lighting and BG. The diagonal composition coming from the upper left corner makes this a dynamic photo. I can't really tell whether you captured this in the garden or was it cut from the main plant.
Beautiful shot Ray!

Kathy Hillard   {K:25721} 4/28/2006
I love freesia too, Ray! The creamy color of these creates a nice soft, dreamy image. I like the black background...very pretty!

Nice lighting and tone. I like that the closed bud adds just the right amount of colour to the photograph. Well done.

Nice shot,
It has a nice story behind, I think,
You know dear Ray, when I see a bunch of flowers, I think What make this beauty become one?! the reason is not important at last, the thing that will remains is the memory of this beauty, as one of Metallica's Song: "Memory Remains"!!!!
I like it
Mohammad

Ray- you are just so brilliant! Showing me things I've never seen before however much I've looked! To have your eyes open to greater pleasure and appreciation of things is a wonderful feeling. This is my favourite flower- I have vases of it- now I really see it! You seem to have summed up the feeling of freesias. Just beautiful colours and textures- against the black seems gentle clarity.

Rashed Abdulla   {K:154808} 4/28/2006

Roger Williams   {K:83282} 4/28/2006
You really excel at flowery closeups, Ray. I knew the name "freesia" but wouldn't have recognized them. Now I'll never be able to forget them! I like the soft, delicate mood and the subtle off-balance composition... I suppose the black background is PhotoShop work? Excellent choice, if so.

Alison DuFlon   {K:36231} 4/29/2006
Ray, this is very beautiful and you have retained beautiful detail in the white petals. I love the composition, very well balanced in the frame. Alison

Great floral Ray. A very soft and fresh picture of this beautiful flowers. Great texture and details. I am really enjoying its soft colour and freshness from a terrible hot and humid place like Kolkata.

Yoshiyuki Tanaka   {K:13580} 4/29/2006
I'm glad you liked my little flower-present for you, Ray! And I love this shot! The contrast helps underline the softness of the flowers, almost unwilling to open and show their faces.I know they have a great fragrance that my wife likes a lot.

Although I agree with Denis about “The detail in the white stands out beautifully against the black background”, I think the soft tones and light contrasts together with the perspective -you’ve chosen to present the image- have the most effect for this successful result. It is really an extraordinary floral composition! Excellent!
Best regards: Maxime

Dear Ray! I have the same problem that things are chaining so radical in all directions! I am honesty running faster than normally I am able to, but I know already I never can catch even part of those entire far-reaching changing in our societies and cultures
About all your wise comments just to say I’ve never thought negative! On the contrary I worship any kind of critical eyes! The only source of success and envelopment is just critical and unsatisfying observations!
You said: “I hope you don't think I'm critical of what you do”; my sincerely response is why not my friend? Please do! The day that everybody might be thinking and seeing the world with the same feeling and through the same eye, our planet would be uninterested and bored to death! I love your picture because I cannot create them myself. Because you have different view than mine and you produce other ideas!
Wish you a nice day my friend!
Best regards: Maxime
