About I always feel sad when I see these monkeys, as I understand the training can be quite cruel. I liked his attitude. "You may make me jump through hoops but you can't make me smile!"

There is something very very wrong with this. No it isn't your picture Roger, it is the whole idea of these macaques dressed up like a person putting on a show. You can just see the guy is pissed off.

This is what we should be seeing http://www.usefilm.com/image/6188.html

The opening scene of the Ron Fricke film "Baraka" is a slow motion pan of a macaque in a hot spring, it is almost surreal. This is surreal in the negative. You pegged it right on Roger, he is his own being and they can't take that away from him.

Yes, Phil, that URL points to one of my favourite UF images! We really seem to be on the same wavelength on this one... Thanks for dropping by.

You did really well with the exposure here and a scene that works well.

Who's the animal and who's the man?
Is there a man and is him really a man?

The slave monkey's expression is really eloquent

Very nice , really very nice shot

A great piece of photo journalism my dear Roger. The saddest of sights is to see dumb animals performing in streets. I imagine the training is cruel and hurried to get the new 'star' out on the street performing. I am so pleased that this is something we never see here these days. I don't know if they can vary their expressions by that much but it is fitting that this poor macaque looks totally brassed off. A good shot my friend with great clarity...Best wishes...Ray

What you say is quite true. The problem--and it is ours--is that we are drawn to such events and images. In your shot, you show us how to see past the performance and glimpse the truth. Well done . . .

Best wishes

I may be putting too much into my read on this image Roger, but I think this is first time I have ever seen human level 'hate' in the expression of an animal. Snarling dogs are just animals but this is something else. Its a rare image that usefilm should be very proud of hosting.

This is quite a statement being made here, and it really raises the question as to which is the "dumb animal". I find it fascinating that the girl cannot even manage to carry out her "act" without artificial amplification. A very strong image.

Nice capture, Roger. The colors are really nice, but it's the monkey that's priceless. Really well done!!

Yes, John. The girl was cute, and played on this quite strongly, but as you say the artificiality of it all, including the mic and amp, were all a bit too much for me. And that poor monkey... the butt of so much unsympathetic laughter! Argh!!

this is a great capture roger... love it... the facial expression on the monkey and his stance says it all... great work
