An excellent photo, and an excellent use of this lens. Your composition and crop are perfect, as is your focus. The only possible improvement I could ask for would have been to give it slightly less exposure, so you could avoid the blow-out on her face/shoulder. But, as I stated, a truly excellent photo.

Hi Pat,
THanks to your photo on the homepage, I was lucky enough to be able to peruse your portfolio...a little bit so far. I came across this WICKED shot. I love how you kept the DOF down so ones eye is drawn straight to the child subject, as well as the nicely sharp focused grass immediately around her. It works very well.
I see we have the same camera, and I too have just purchased an 85mm Canon lens though mine is 1.4 USM I love it but am still trying to master it. How far away from the child were you when you shot this, and did you use a tirpod or remote etc?
