Nice work

Howie Mudge   {K:25680} 4/30/2006
interesting perspective. I would like you to have got really low maybe 5-6" off the ground for this capture and have someones feet in the shot. Its interesting as is but could also have been even more interesting.

Kareem Afifi   {K:5929} 4/30/2006

Hi Thilo,

I thought just to wish you a very good trip to Barcelona, but then I noticed you put this in the CC.... So much for that idea, heh?

I think you've created a very powerful atmosphere, but IMO, that atmosphere is primarily build on the toning. The perspective in this shot is quite strong, yet to me, it's a bit centered. In retrospect with the specific place, I think that soberness does fit, though. A solemn, simple shot, no unnecessary flamoyance - hence also my ambiguous feeling about the toning, hope you see what I mean...

I rather like Howie's idea, too, that would be nice, although the feet would also create a distraction, given the introvert atmosphere I'm sure this place bears...

A shot that makes me think. And that is per definition a good shot....

Have a great time in Barcelona, and talk to you soon,

Cheers,

Hugo

Hi Thilo,
Here is a shot from the "real" dark side. Stark, forboding and fitting in mood.
Andre

ps
See you when you get back from holidays

thilo,
great shot! i love the idea of this path leading to a tunnel with light at the end of it. many people say that when the soul is about to be seperated from the physical vessel, bright white light can be seen at the end of a long tunnel. perhaps this is what the victims of the holocaust saw as their souls were moving on from the physical level?? nicely done my man.

hi thilo,

i like the perspective here. having been to this site, you have captured it very well in terms of creating an mood applicable to the intent of the memorial. the toning works very well also.

all the best mate :)

This is a very good idea. The shot is excellent. I would like to see greater DOF, perhaps closing down the lens and shooting from a tripod would help. Tone is excellent.
