You know Doyle I suggested a shot of sat. for your other shot, It looks like this one had a shot too much. Somewhere in between would be my choice. Regards Ron.

Howie Mudge   {K:23894} 5/1/2006
Great bold colour to this flamingo and I like the depth of field chosen. Works well.

Mary Slade   {K:40918} 5/1/2006
Oh my God the eye Doyle! I can't believe you got it like this. Just stunning. The clarity, closeness, colours, lighting and all the beautifu textures. Great background too. And mounted beautifully. A classic.

Excellent colour and detail.

Debasish Ghosh   {K:5530} 5/1/2006
SO rich colour and beautiful composition to display the elegant curve of this majestic flemingo.
Superb colours and details, nice cropping.
Regards.

DD - I love it Ron! This bird was practically blood red. The variety of color is stunning. In checking the greens and (especially) the eye . . . you can see that the color is not really so saturated - but the bird is! I have some group shots I'll have to post with the birds ranging from red to white and many colors in between! Both images were given slight saturation which I do routinely so that the resize and upload don't affect the quality. I do appreciate your comments though.

Hi Doyle,

Love the flaming saturation. Great shot, and a very elegant composition, doing justice to the flamingo. Impressive shot, with a very high image quality, Very good stuff! Don't think the saturation is too high here, but that's also a personal preference, I generally speaking like highly saturated images. I do see Ron's point, though. The contrast between the peach and green is fabulous.

Only thing I wonder about is if actually including the neck of the flamingo to it's body wouldn't have made this shot just a tad more balanced. Looking at the margin on top, it seems you had the space to play with, even without zooming out... Minor detail, as usual...:)

Cheers,

Hugo

This is superb - bold colours and a bold crop. I like the simplicity of the background that seems to echo the bird's feathers.

I feel really mean saying this (but by now I think you know I'm trying to be helpful), but the feathers on the extreme right seem just a tad burnt out. Maybe localised PS could help here - cropping would unbalance the image.

Dear Doyle
So you`ve been to the zoo lately?:-) What a magnificent flamingoportrait. I`m particularly fascinated by its eyes. Amazing how you make them stand out so bright. It looks like the eyes of a reptile! The textures of the leaves and the colours in general are wonderful.
Springgreetings,
Annemette

Hugo:
It's the minor details that matter, though, isn't it? Thanks for the (always) valuable comments to consider!

John:
Thanks for the (honest) comments . . . they're always appreciated. Often they draw attention to overlooked things. They don't seem to "tick me off" unless they're right and you seem to have an eye for those details ;D. These are things I need to hear and I appreciate hearing them . . . it's one of the best things you get from UF (If you want them). I had not considered localized PS, but will certainly do so in the future. Thank you for your honesty and help!

Thanks,
Doyle <-----

Thanks Annemette.
The zoo? Who, me? These might have been in my front yard in Florida, although they would have been plastic! -Yes, I had to try the new 300mm at the zoo! Thanks for the comments.

Thanks,

Romy:
Never heard there was a classic 'S' but I get it . . . and suppose there is. They should call it, however, the classic dyslexic 'S' . . . or the dysclassic 's' . . . - Ok, too much . . . but thanks for the comments.

Thanks,
Doyle <-----

Fantastic clarity Doyle in this wonderful wildlife composition. They keep flamingoes at a park close to us and it is amazing how their colourings vary.
