wonderful sparrow shots, I like the above and below view of the two, I know nothing at all of the smaller birds, I really do like there many wonderful colors, sizes and shapes, may head in that direction in the future, for now I have enough trouble Id ing the big birds :)

Thanks Marcus, I don't really know anything much about them either, only what I've learned from taking pictures of them. With my equipment, and some bird seed, I have a much better chance at this kind of shot than the in-flight images that you do. Those Audubon Society Bird books are a great help for ID ing. Google helps too. I thought I would do a two for one image with these two. It just seemed like a good idea at the time. Both images are okay on their own too. Andre

Bigger than the UK sparrows Andre and definately more colourful. Sad to pass on to you and being mindful of your antecedents the London sparrow is dying out though we are seeing a few down our way.
Two very lovely shots my friend both with excellent details and great colour tones. I have had very limited success with avian shots in the last year or so and I really must get a longer lense than 100mm. Well done to you Andre a very neat package of two for the price of one. My very best wishes to you as always.....Ray

Hi Ray, Funny you should mention that about the London Sparrow. I've noticed there don't seem to be as many of the common garden variety Sparrows around here anymore either. These two are a little rarer than most that we get here. Very distinctive around the head. There is a definite difference between these two and the common ones. These are from around the seed in the backyard, so I imagine wild life purists might not approve :) Thanks for your thoughtful comment, as always! Andre

Don't know when I'll be able to be back regularly as I am having difficulty keeping up with everything. It is really important for me to reciprocate on comments (fair is fair), and so I am holding off until I can post and at least return the favor. It bothers me when I can't do that properly. And, you are one of the best examples here of giving great comments.

Well done Andre! Good colors in both shots, and well put together. If you ever run short of the white crowned sparrows you can come to our yard...we have tons of them! Kathy

Thanks Kathy, I'll trade you some of our Canada Geese for a few of these guys any day! We do get lots of Sparrows, but for some reason, not that many of this variety. Andre

Thanks Susie, It took them a little while to get used to me being there. But once they did get used to me, I was able to get a lot of nice shots. These were two of my favourites from about 20 that I took. Andre

Hi Jose, Thanks for commenting again. Sometimes the most common birds are over looked when we take images. I thought I would give the Sparrows a little exposure. There are two other types we get coming around. I might have to do the same kind of image with them too. Andre
