Love the romantic mood of the photo Steve...

A very good mono toned floral well composed and eyecatching Steve. Well done to you my friend. I STILL haven't posted a mono floral.....mine never look right somehow. Best wishes....Ray

Semplicemente bella. Complimenti.

Kathy Hillard   {K:25721} 5/8/2006
A nice piece you've created here, Steve. I like the tones. I would probably opt for about half of the empty space on the left, but, of course, that's just MO!!! Wouldn't the world be a boring place if we all thought alike? :)
Kathy

A nice b/w floral shot Steve. It's unusual, so very eye catching. This is the perfect flower for this type of shot I think.

Very good composition, Steve! You're right, it's odd we both happened to post tulips at almost the same time, coming at them from opposite ends of the colour spectrum! I like the way you've done this one!
Dave.

I find inverted b&w fascinating. It gives the photo subject a whole different look. This one is wonderful!

Now does the title mean that you don't like tulips?????
The result of your capture shows sth totally different...a quite unusual presentation but excellent in composition and tones!
I like it a lot, Steve!
Thanks for your nice comments!
Regards, Mireille

A brilliant idea and image Steve- all the more powerfully emotive in B&W.

Steve Aronoff   {K:21279} 5/11/2006
OK, Kathy, you got me thinking. (Always a dangerous thing.) I put the photo in PS and tried a few crops as per your suggestion. None of them worked for me. The reason is, I believe, that there is a leftward thrust created by the tulip on the left that needs sufficient space to complete itself. Anything less makes the photo too boxy and confined. For my taste, of course. And, yes, indeed, if we all thought alike there'd be no one around for me to criticize! ;>)

Thanks for your kind comment, Ray. I think the trick to a good mono floral. Oh, hell! I have no idea what the trick is. I think it worked in this case because of the inversion.
Best,
Steve

Not love tulips! Bite your tongue!
Seriously, I adore tulips. I titled this one anti-tulip simply because I inverted the blacks and whites. 'Anti' in the sense of antimatter.
Best wishes,
Steve
