Nice smile & pretty model Erik. Good rapport is essential to shots like these & it appears you've established that. Good job on the lighting & the tilt makes the portrait dynamic, the top sure is eye catching with those colors. Well taken & executed, regards.

the point of view... you're in love with such point of view...and I like it..., of course.
really candid shot.

I must see with more detail your work, Erik but now I need more time. I always need so time...

take care, my friend

ismael.

Mark Longo   {K:12757} 5/10/2006
Great stuff here. The light is nicely soft and even. I like the high angle used for this shot. Would perhaps like to see a little less shadow, though something is needed to ground her so the shadow serves that purpose. Maybe I just want it to be farther back so as to give her a little more space? Dunno. It's a nit in any case, barely worth mentioning. And what a beauty! The high angle and focal length also advantage her lovely slim torso and legs. And what skin! If you retouched it the work is flawless. Excellent job on this!

Best,
Mark

Erik Neldner   {K:10896} 5/10/2006
mark,
thank you so much for your thoughts. i so agree that a little less shadow would be nice, but a completely white backgound wouldn't work either in this case. how far do you go? in the end i decided to leave it as is, with some minor touch-up on the face. the skin tone comes straight from the camera. i did a custom WB with the expo-disc.
thanks,
erik

thanks trish. yep. it went very well.

Hugo de Wolf   {K:184670} 5/13/2006
Hi Erik,

She's definitely very expressive, and very good looking too... I like this almost timid yet joyful expression and pose; it fits well, and the pose fits the controlled laughter very well. Good shot.

I think high key background would've done this shot more justice, though. (it's not so much the gradient but the tone that disturbs me a bit - it hints at high key, but looks like a white balance issue I struggle with too at times) Maybe even a bit more speculiar light - did you use ambient light, a softbox to your left? or another lighting situation? Just curious; More pronounced light might've added a bit more depth to this shot, I believe. Anyway, Don't think that's anything that can't be fixed if you wish....

Cheers,

Hugo

Erik Neldner   {K:10896} 5/13/2006
hugo,
excellent points you bring up. i used tow nikon SB-800's on stands with umbrellas. one off to the left up high and the other on the right down a bit lower. therewas little chance for high key with this lighting set-up. that would have benn nice for sure, but i didn't want it to look like a studio. i wanted it to look like the corner of a house (whiich it was). it does look abit flat, so more dynamic lighting probably would have helped.
thanks so much for these great comments!
cheers,
erik

This is great! Her personality is shining through, the lighting is good, skintones are gorgeous, she looks very sexy, but in a natural and NOT OVER THE TOP kind of way - LOVE THAT. You must have been having fun, that is always good! The perspective and composition are good too! All around a very lovely shot and I'm sure she was quite pleased with it!

Erik Neldner   {K:10896} 9/18/2006
