About The Takao Shrine is not a single building but a whole complex of major and minor structures built over the centuries. I'm sure there are many fascinating stories to be told if you are interested in that kind of thing. I noticed great use of statuary, Thia colorful shrine has a good one...

An absolutely stunning scene, Roger. The architecture and the decoration are graceful and vivid, and you have captured them in a very effective light and composition. Well done. . .

Regards,
--George

Aah, in this one we get to see where the winged big nose chappie resides Roger. A very colourful structure my friend with loads of great details. All the best.....Ray

Not QUITE right, Ray. This is a different statue of a different mythical character and a different shrine--but all part of the same great complex of shrines that has grown up on Mt. Takao over the last thousand years or so.

Thank you, Ian! These two most recent pictures you've commented on are the front and back of the same shrine... shows what a difference the direction of the light makes. You would enjoy Japan, although there is much that is ugly as well as all the traditional beauties.
