Tremendous shot, Tony!

Hugo de Wolf   {K:185017} 5/15/2006
Hi Tony, Very powerful image, and it displays a huge dynamism. The spray of water is immense! Great composition, too, with the man as sencer of attention in the top right corner, allowing a great view on the water jet. I'm curious what this guy is doing - doesn't look like a jetski...:)

There are two things that strike me as odd, though. First, the tonal range seems to be clipped, and tends to be a bit on the bright side. I think that reduces the dynamism and the strenght of the man as primary subject, with a more balanced / wider tonal range, I think he'd stick out a bit more.

Secondly, the choice of converting this one to B&W is something I don't understand. Eventhough the majority of this photo would be (near-) white, the man at least would've had enough difference in hue to separate him a bit more, resulting in the same effect as I described above. Just a thought; there's a lot of energy and potential in this shot (as wwell as in the camera...:), but I don't think it really shows here.

Cheers,

Hugo

Hugo, thank you for your comments. All which are appriciated. The man is actually on a log flume ride, this being the final decent.
