State -  NORTHERN CAPE
Country - South Africa   South Africa
About The larvae of an emperor moth species (Saturnidae), feeding on the compound leaves of a black thorn tree. This species and especially another related species - the mopani worm (larvae of Imbrasia belina)form an important part of the diet of the indigenous people of the northern parts of southern Africa. During a favourable season the larvae are produced en-masse, to such an extent that they strip most trees and shrubs of all there leaves, even causing death of game species through starvation.

Hi Joggie,
A very powerful macro-in colors, details, light and composition!
I was almost sure you used the converter, but you didn't.
I should have taken some photo lessons from you :)
Anyhow, excellent capture here again!
Regards, Mireille

Beautiful creature, Joggie - and well presented! I do wish for a little more DOF to get sharp mouth parts, as well.
