Hi Eric, Your portraits really rock. I'm impressed by the creativity and refreshing elements you manage to put into them. Specifically in the composition and expression. I haven't made many portraits, but will have to do so soon, and I get a lot of inspiration from these photos - thanks!

i'm glad you enjoy it. i know you have a very critcal eye. i started shooting humans about 2 years ago. initially i resisted, but know i find it to be my most rewarding and challenging work. shooting with models makes a shoot a "shoot", an event. there's a lot of energy and anticipation and even nervousness involved.
all the best with it. i know you'll bring your own special point of view to the table.

Along with many others on UF, I was quite taken with "persephone #1" which to me exemplified a simple youthful exuberance that was uplifting and easy to look at. This one, Erik, is confusing to me and it might be the mixed signals the model is radiating. Her bodily stance, with the cocked elbow, the hand on the hip, and the full frontal view at first appears to be one of confrontation. Yet, her facial expression is one of confusion, like she can't believe what she is seeing. Somehow, the two together just don't play for me. If she had been partially turned, maybe then, the message may have come across differently. Nevertheless, the lighting is superb, the model is attractive, and the colors are interesting. I love #1, but #2 is less effective. Anson

Been distracted from Usefilm for a while so just seeing this now. I like it very much. There is a soft focus effect on the hair at the top of the shot that I like. Nice crop on this as well, creating an unusual balance between the body limbs and head. Candid but posed...
