Hi Howie,
You're absolutely right: he/she has awesome eyes.
Just wondering wether some cropping at the bottom (see attachment) wouldn't emphasize these beautiful eyes...
A stunning capture nonetheless.
Mireille
P.S. I've been browsing through your portfolio:very professional!

Nice clean and sharp shot here, Howie with a great close crop. Might have tweaked the levels just a very tiny bit to bring up the whites?

Cheers

Howie:
Very well done and a surprisingly bold crop. I can see why Mirielle suggested the crop she did but will have to disagree with her in this case. The lower portion of the composition has a different texture due to the DOF and seems to do nothing to accentuate the eyes . . . I think it's important to keep the eyes off the center horizontal axis in order to keep the composition from becoming too static though. Her suggestion to remove the lower portion in order to emphasize the eyes would (in my opinion) be more dynamic if the image was really cropped back. I couldn't resist playing and have attached my version of the crop to emphasize the eyes while removing the lower portion of the image and retaining the rule of thirds composition. This is an amazing shot Howie . . . very impressive indeed!

I love your owls - they are absolutely beautiful - perfect shooting, cropping - the only thing I'm missing is some framing - try it..greetings Tom
