Beautiful little flowers, and great selective focus, Eb!
Dave.

Of this four last entries this is my favourite: composition, colours, DOF, light are all splendid.
You have a special ability for giving graduality to the blurring so creating an excellent depth.
Bravo!
Ciao.

Thanks Giuseppi. I thought you might like this technique. I have been experimenting with selective sharpening to enhance the effect of the selective focus. That is, I only sharpen the flowers and parts that are in focus.

Great DOF to pick up more than one cluster of the flowers. I was tryinh out the 200 today and could not get the fine details as sharp as I would like. I think the shutter movement was affecting the shot. Is this a normal problem in micro photography?

Thanks for your comment, Pat. I did intent to get a number of clusters in focus. I also selectively sharpen only those in-focus clusters, thus leaving the rest soft.

The problem with the 200mm is most likely mirror shake. Try the mirror lock-up - but you will also need a remote release. The exposure delay feature for the D200 is often not sufficient. It all depends on the quality of the tripod collar and tripod, too. On my 80-400, I have given up on the tripod collar and use a telephoto lens support by Manfrotto instead. The mirror shake is most problematic for me at exposures of 1 sec to about 1/30 sec. A mirror lockup is one of the reasons I had to to justify buying the D200. With the D70, I could never get a sharp picture on that account.
