Ah a bearded iris! The colors and details are excellent. Good work Kathy!

Chris Boivin   {K:9030} 6/4/2006
Beautiful Kathy. The colours and details are wonderful. The perspective you chose really brings forth the beard. All of the lines compliment each other and my focus moves from bottom to top very smoothly.
Excellent work,
Chris

Don Loseke   {K:32503} 6/4/2006
This is a beauty Kathy.. So well done for lighting and interest. Take a look at cropping about half the black from the bottom to see what you think. Wonderful work. Don.

Dave Stacey   {K:121118} 6/4/2006

Dave.

Susie OConnor   {K:34798} 6/4/2006
Really nice Sissy! This is beautiful! I like the lighting a lot. And this perspective is awesome. I like Don's suggestion on the cropping...I think it would enhance it.
This reminds me of a tunnel...I wonder what little bugs think when they are traveling over something like this! Good job.
Suz

The colour is indeed magic, but beyond that you managed a very attractive, sensual crop!A real win!

Thanks Don!
I cropped this like I think you thought would enhance it. I could go either way. What do you think?
Kathy

For Don

Don Loseke   {K:32503} 6/6/2006
Hi Kathy, I can live with either one of these. Why I suggested cropping was there is a lot of dark space at the bottom that is not doing anything for the picture. All the interest is from the stamen (whatever you call it) on up to the very nice colorful area at the top. It is just my way of looking at things. Don. Thanks

Alicia Popp   {K:84964} 6/6/2006

Giuseppe Guadagno   {K:33999} 6/6/2006
A splendid railway in the iris' hearth. I love the inversion of the contrast: dark the front and lighted the back. I like it very much Kathy.
Ciao.

Giuseppe

Susie OConnor   {K:34798} 6/7/2006
Of course you knew I would like this better, and I do! I think it draws more attention to the beard...my eyes go directly there on this cropped version. On the original my eyes go to the light, the dark and then the beard. Like I said, they are both great, just our own preferences! ) Gorgeous shot both.
Susie

Alison DuFlon   {K:36231} 6/8/2006
Really beautiful, it looks like a little catepiller crawling out of the flower, amazing light and beautiful color. Alison

Hiya Kathy.

What a fabulous floral macro. The colours are gorgeous sweetie and the details just awesome. I read the comments about the cropping but I believe I would have done the same as you with a balance of light and dark, top and bottom. I took a look at your attachment and you're right, both ways work. Decisions, decisions. Well done to you and I am pleased to see you settling down to your new camera extremely well.

We are just back from some few weeks of holidays and needless to say I am hopelessly behind....with everything. So I have been catching up on my friends on and off today with the same agenda for tomorrow if I can find a few moments in a crowded day. I hope to take a look through your other posts I missed whilst away if time permits in the near future....there are some goodies there. 'See' you again soon sweetie. I hope everything goes well at THE CAFE. My very best wishes to you as always.....Ray

Wow this is awsome. Look at the great deep lavender tones and detail. I can just feel the softness in the petals. What a breathtaking capture. The lighting is perfect.

Andre Denis   {K:56160} 6/14/2006
Very nice Kathy!
With that close crop, it reminds me of those under-water sea creatures that you see in those beautiful documentary films.
Great colours and detail!
Andre

A complimentary color combination of yellow and purple, wonderful abstract! I like the angle from where you took this flower, it's like a cave with flowers decorated on the entrance... nice shot and beautiful lighting Kathy!
regards..

Joggie van Staden   {K:41275} 6/16/2006
Excellent floral macro Kathy - the colours are superb and the composition very strong. The detail on the central "comb" is excellent - almost look like one of those nudibranchs one found on the coral reefs. Excellent work!
Joggie
