Off the charts indeed. This is a wonderful capture my friend.
I have heard stories of a forest fire and firemen finding a mother with her wings spread over the chick. The mother was dead, but the chick was just fine.
If we humans could just learn to love like that for one another, wouldn't life be so much better? Dying for another instead of hating each other. I guess I'll have to wait for Heaven!

I like the way the broken egg is still in the image. You got the focus right where it should be on this one. I have a few similar shots of some just hatched Canadian Geese. (not sure they are good enough to post. I'll have to revisit them)
