Deliciosamente bella... qué colores!!!
Los contrastes de la naturaleza... una planta tan rústica como los cactus y con flores tan deliciadamente hermosas.
La has sabido capturar muy bien!!!. Felicitaciones!!

Well, well, well. I can see I'm going to have to pay closer attention to who's following me around in the desert, hey?

Gorgeous photo, Lori... I spent quite a bit of time Sunday trying to capture a cactus bloom... and was a total failure. arrrrgh.

My feeble attempt

Lori Stitt   {K:74434} 6/7/2006
Thanks Dave,
but it didn't have 'good stuff' around. Move some of the twiggy things (or clone out) make a bit of a shadow on it, and SHOOT!! (Didn't have your macro with you?)
I did crop mine a bit.........
Go try again!

Lori, I did shoot this with the macro, that particular shot I had just backed off. Who'd have thought to remove the surrounding clutter? I guess I just prefer not to disturb the area so I haven't done anything like that. The line of thought, I reckon, is to keep it in its actual environment.

That being said, one of my major problems out here is that the wind blows constantly. And I don't mean a gentle breeze. On a bad day (3 to 4 days a week) the wind is at 50 to 60 MPH. Dang flowers won't hold still. Do you know how hard it is to get a focus on something that won't sit still?

On Sunday, I went on a 6 hour drive taking photos. My luck, it got cloudy, stormy and windy. But, with much consternation, I did actually remove a couple flowers to a sheltered area in an attempt to take macro pics. Hah, it was a bust, too.

Anyway, you are right, try, try again. That's half the fun. Now if you excuse me, I have thorns to remove from my forehead.

Best,
Dave

Dave, I did use macro mode. (don't have an SLR yet...soon...very soon!) I'm not adverse to moving a few things out of the way. (don't take a shovel with me though)

Impossible to photograph a macro in the wind, (pick the thing, take home, photograph) Just kidding of course........:) Although you DID say you 'removed' a few flowers...LOL How about a weak flash?? That at least would stop down the apeture, speed up the shutter! Just a thought.

Keep trying, wind is the pitts!
Didja get all those thorns?? Hope so.
L:)

Inexcuseably late Lori! I missed this one a month ago! Exquisite detail and the color is an eye-popper! The background and seen-but-not-seen buds just make this floral say "LOOK AT ME!" Since I've gotten the H-2, I have to admit I very rarely use the macro setting. You've got a good eye for the crop here. It's really a beaut! Lori, thanks for all the recent comments...Best regards--Bill Voizin

Lori Stitt   {K:74434} 7/24/2006
Yes, Bill, inexcuseable without a doubt!
Just DON'T LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN!!! LOL

Thanks for your nice words, hope you're having a GR8 day!

Lori :)

A very good photo for me where everything is beautiful: composition, light, colours, background and the splendid flower.
I am back after a month of absence also for my holidays in mountain. Now I am glad to see again your excellent pictures.
Cheers.

Giuseppe
