About On the train to Guangzhou, China.

About an hour into any train ride, you're asleep.

The reflections are the tress going by, and one of my co-workers fast asleep in the seat behind me.

The reflection was difficult to catch, as it would only show up when there was a dark enough background, causing the window to mirror as much as possible. Filled that gig card very quickly. The challenge.. handheld on a train, wait for it to be dark enough, and get the shutter to how you like the streaks.. in this case, 1/4000 @ f/2.8 : ISO200

The motion of the train from the speed, and the streak of the reflections gave the image a much softer look that I planned, however, I like the way it all rests nicely together without sharpness.

Compare and contrast assignment:

Simularities and differences to this actual human to Joel's film still shots of a doll: http://www.usefilm.com/image/1080580.html

What is real and what is not?
What is human and what is a simulacrum?
What is a dream and what is wakefulness?

And while you are at it, watch Bladerunner to compare the visual styles and toning.

Hiya Joel. Was relieved when your posts went up, good to see you were unaffected/unharmed in your proximity to the natural disaster over there!

I've been quietly following your journeys through HK. The imagery you've brought back with you has been absolutely awe-inspiring. But you hardly need me to tell you that though... 3 awards are a pretty darn good indication of success, my friend :)

Michael's comment here cracks me up. But how spooky-true is that, eh? ;D Keep'em coming, your faithful audience is waiting...

Cheers
Rina.
