| About |
....when in Brisbane I get up at the crack of and walk along the Brisbane River near Auchenflower....great name that, no idea what it means, yet...... the Brisbane River has a history of floods, but the February 1893 flood was devastating and covered areas of the town that had never been flooded before. Whole houses floated off their stumps and were swept down river - local reports told of the Aborigines coming in from all round the district and camping at One Tree Hill (Mt Coot-tha). 'King' billy told one reporter that 'one big fellow flood is coming 'long to wash away Brisbane. Fish all gone 'long out of Bay and the ants going up tree houses, out of the way of big fellow water.'.....you would never think it from this image!!
