About Converted to B&W and cropped.

I have attached the full image below, which I didn't think was THAT strong, I found it interesting how the light created a differnet mood on each side, individually.

Is it bad that the fingeres are cropped out even though they are not the focus of the photo?

Looking at the two, I must admit I prefer the full image, not that this is bad melanie, just my preference. I would also be tempted to crop the hand out of this version. Excellent detail on the eye :)

Does not bother me you've cropped the fingers - as your eye is holding all my attention anyway.

Maurizio Massetti   {K:30460} 6/27/2006
I find this more interesting than the original one. I like the cropping and the tones, but I think that, as you said, it's bad that the fingers are cropped out...

Luke Luther   {K:14687} 6/27/2006
Wow! Great crop, and I have not even seen the original below.

Bjorn Beheydt   {K:12096} 6/27/2006
The crop of the fingers doesn't bother me at all, the image is strong enough to prevent that from being an issue. I do feel there is no comparison between the two pictures, they are both good, and don't really feel linked to eachother.

so intense and intimate.
looking at the full image i must say that i love at the same time the other part of your face....
stunning

Wow Melanie! I get such great ideas by looking at your work! I (by FAR) prefer the posted image. It's a unique capture . . . and intriguing presentation. I'm sure there must be some 'rule' somewhere that says don't cut the fingers off but I could not possibly care less . . . the focus of the viewer has been forced by this unique POV. I'm seriously impressed.

Well, thanks Doyle!

Yes, there is sort of a rule about cropping out limbs! LOL I hadn't really put much thought into it but had noticed several comments recently about cutting off fingeres. That is when I relized I had cut the fingers off on this one. I wasn't sure if it was such a big deal, though, considering the composition of the photo.

and i love what you did with the photo.
